The 28-year-old England National Cricket Team top-order batsman Ben Duckett has claimed that the Australia National Cricket Team would not want to face the English speedster Mark Wood in the remainder of the Ashes 2023 series.
Mark Wood featured in his first match of the Ashes 2023 in the third Test at the Headingley in Leeds. He brought the much-needed express pace to the England bowling line-up and troubled the Aussies a lot throughout the match.

He bowled one of the fastest spells of all time at the Headingley and registered a 5-wicket haul in his comeback innings. In the second innings, he picked up crucial wickets of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins to clean up the tail.
Not just with the ball, Mark Wood was extremely impressive with the bat as well. He scored 24 runs at a strike rate of 300.00 in the first innings and 16 runs at a strike rate of 200.00 during the successful run chase.

In an interaction with The Guardian, Ben Duckett said that the Aussies would hate to go up against Wood. He said:
“I also know for a fact Australia will not want Woody to play these last two games. It’s so weird; how does he bowl so fast? He’s not a big bloke, it’s just arm-speed, I guess. He’s so skiddy and always at you, so I’m very happy he’s on my team.”

The England opener added that the way Wood batted in the third Test was absolutely game-changing. He asserted:
“And it’s not just with the ball, the way he took them on with the bat was gamechanging.”
Duckett acknowledged that Australia are a good team, but labeled them as “a bunch of nice guys” who are led by “one of the nicest blokes” Pat Cummins. He said:
“My view on the Australian team is that they’re a very, very good team. But they’re a bunch of nice guys. Pat Cummins seems like one of the nicest blokes in cricket. If I bowled 90mph like him I’d give the batter a lot more chat. But it doesn’t feel like they’re trying to intimidate anyone out there, they’re just focusing on their skills. It’s nice.”
Ben Duckett further spoke about England’s entertaining Bazball approach. He elaborated:
“Two years ago, some of the shots I play would have been unacceptable. It’s amazing what you can do when you take away the fear of failure. That’s the biggest thing, I’m not trying to make people think I’m England’s best ever opener, I’ll stick to what I do and will have a hell of a better chance than if I try to be something I’m not.”
The fourth Test between Ben Stokes-led England and Pat Cummins-led Australia will be played from July 19 to 23. The match is set to be held at Old Trafford, Manchester.
