Matthew Wade‘s field obstruction incident has been trending. The wicket-keeper batter was seen obstructing Mark Wood from taking the catch. Surprisingly Jos Buttler didn’t appeal for the incident. Many experts said that the incident is against the spirit of the game.
Australia’s finisher Matthew Wade is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The left-handed batter has the knack for reading situations quite perfectly. Wade also has been named as the backup captain for the marquee event.
Matthew Wade on Incident
Matthew Wade was having an interaction with cricket.com.au and was asked about the incident. “That looked horrible when I saw it after the game.”It was one of those things that just happened so fast.” said Wade.
“I think Kane Richardson said to me when I got off the ground, ‘You pushed him, basically’. I was like, ‘No, I didn’t’. And then I saw the replay and I was like, ‘Well, yeah, I did’.” he added.
Great Chance for Australia
No team has won back to back T20 World Cups in the history of the T20 World Cup. Australia has got a powerful unit as they have got a good depth of players who can play according to the situation. All the eyes would be on Tim David who has shown that he can be the match-winner for Australia.
Australia would be worried as Mitchell Starc has looked a bit scratchy. The left-arm speedster can be vital for the team’s success as the angle he creates can easily perturb any batter on a given day. Head Coach Andrew McDonald needs to be spot-on with his selection as couple of losses can ruin all the hard work.
