David Warner, on Sunday (July 9), gave Jonny Bairstow a taste of his medicine by giving him a similar type of send-off that the England wicketkeeper had given to Steve Smith earlier in the third Ashes Test at Headingley.

England and Australia played out yet another classic Test in the ongoing five-match series. In the end, the hosts beat the visitors by three wickets to keep the series alive. Asked to bat first, Australia were all out for 263 in the first innings with comeback man Mitchell Marsh scoring a century. For England, Mark Wood picked up his first five-wicket haul on English soil.

In reply, England were all out for 237 runs as Australia took a lead of 26 runs. In the second innings, the visitors could manage only 224, setting England a target of 251 runs. England then survived some anxious moments and eventually chased down the total on the fourth day. Harry Brook starred with the bat for the hosts, scoring a fighting fifty.

David Warner gives Jonny Bairstow a send-off:

While England and Australia players were busy fighting it out on the tense final day of the third Test at Headingley, David Warner managed to settle the score with Jonny Bairstow. Earlier in the Test, Bairstow hit the headlines for giving Steve Smith a cheeky send-off.

When Smith fell to a soft dismissal in the second innings after scoring just 2, Bairstow managed to get under his skin. As Smith was walking past him, the England wicketkeeper was caught by the stump mic telling the former Australia skipper: “See ya Smudge.”

It did not go down well with Smith who turned around and furiously replied: “What was that mate? Hey!”

Bairstow was not done yet as he told Smith: “I said cheers! See ya later!”

And it did not take Australia long to give it back to Bairstow. After the right-handed batsman was out for just 5 in the second innings, one of the Australian players, most likely David Warner, gave Bairstow a cheeky send-off, telling him: “see ya, Jonny”.
