England coach Brendon McCullum looked back at the recently completed Ashes series. The series ended at 2-2 with England pulling back two Test matches after being 0-2 in the series.
The Ben Stokes-led side were well placed to win the fourth Test in Manchester had rain not intervened. Courtesy of a drawn series, Australia retained the Ashes urn. Throughout the series, England kept on p[laying with the same aggressive approach the Stokes-McCullum dup inculcated within the side since Stokes took over the captaincy.
McCullum was happy with England’s refined approach as England managed to level the series at 2-2. Talking to BBC Sport, the England head coach spoke about staying true to their approach and yielding a fruitful result in the end.

Bazball Is Our Best Chance Of Winning: Brendon McCullum
“For us that is our best chance of winning. From our point of view the most pleasing aspect is when we were under the most pressure at 2-0 down we stayed true to that and were able to manufacture some results that allowed us to walk away at 2-2” said McCullum.

McCullum further spoke about unearthing new talents as the series went on adding that they refined their “Bazball” approach as the series went on.
“What we are trying to do is allow ourselves to get in a space in our own minds where it allows your talent to come out. If you’re weighed down by fear of failure or by external noise all you’re doing is suffocating that talent. So it’s as simple as that. Sometimes we’ll get the balance wrong with the style we play but you’ve got teams good enough to stand up to you and make you pay when the time comes and Australia did that in the first couple of Test matches. But we refined it slightly as the series wore on” added Brendon McCullum.
Australia outplayed England to win the first two Tests handsomely. England came back to win the third Test and won the fifth at The Oval which was Stuart Broad’s final Test match.
