Australian opener David Warner recently discussed his exceptional pick-up slog against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf during the ICC World Cup 2023. David Warner mentioned that his prior experience facing Hauf Rauf multiple times helped him adjust to the pace of his bowling.

The Pat Cummins-led team secured their second consecutive victory in the ongoing World Cup after facing two initial defeats. The Men in Yellow clinched a convincing 62-run victory over the Pakistan team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20.

It’s Just Pure Instinct – David Warner

At the post-match press conference, when asked about his six against Haris Rauf, David Warner described his spectacular shot as a result of pure instinct. While the six was impressive, Warner mentioned that he has hit many memorable sixes throughout his career.

“It’s just pure instinct. I knew I’d faced him before plenty of times and I think the line and length and the pace that he bowls, it’s just one of those shots that, at a ground like this, it’s a small boundary,” Warner told reporters.

So, you know, if you get anything on it and it’s in your arc, you can just go with it. That’s how I’ve always intended to go out and about it. And yeah, he bowled it pretty much in my arc where I wanted him to bowl. So yeah, memorable sixes – no, I’ve hit a lot,” he added.

Warner knelt down to connect with a full-length delivery directed at the middle stump, sending the remarkable shot soaring 98 meters. The sheer pace of the delivery caused it to crash into the roof of Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium before returning to the field.

Adam Zampa Grabs Four Crucial Wickets

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 18th match of the tournament. However, the decision backfired as the Australian opening batters got off to a flying start. Opening batters Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored brilliant hundreds.

The Australian team set up a mammoth total of 367 for the loss of nine wickets. In response, the bowlers restricted the opponents to 305 runs to secure the victory. Leg spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for 53 runs in his 10-over quota.
