AUS vs SA: Cameron Green Will Miss The Third Test In Sydney Due To A Broken Finger

Cameron Green has been ruled out of the third and final Test match in Sydney against South Africa because of a minor fracture to his right index finger, based on a statement from Cricket Australia on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Green was injured after being struck by a rapid pass from Anrich Nortje, forcing the 23-year-old to leave the game.

CA has since posted a statement on its official website stating that Green’s right index finger has a slight fracture. Green will be allowed to bat in the game, but they indicated they wouldn’t let him bowl.

“Green has a slight fracture in his right index finger, according to a Cricket Australia official, and while he will be able to bat again if needed, he will not bowl in South Africa’s second innings.”

“The 23-year-old has also been ruled out of the Sydney Test and will be uncertain to play in the KFC BBL for the Perth Scorchers, with the allrounder facing “a time of recovery coming up to the Qantas Tour of India,” based on the statement.

Cameron Green was exceptional with the ball in the first innings:

Cameron Green is now racing against the clock to be ready for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India next year.

Australia bowled out the visitors for just 189 thanks to Green’s five-wicket haul in the first innings. Green was outstanding with the ball. The all-rounder wasn’t the only player to sustain an injury during the contest; Mitchell Starc and David Warner also suffered blows and had to leave the field.

After winning the first game in Brisbane by a margin of six wickets, Australia has a 1-0 series lead.
