Australia batsman Matt Renshaw tested positive for covid-19 just before the toss for Wednesday’s third Test against South Africa in Sydney.

Australia, on the other hand, named him to their starting lineup as they seek a clean sweep of the three-match series, which they lead 1-0.

Renshaw made his Test debut after missing the previous one in March 2018, and he was spotted sitting near the team dugout during the opening session of the Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. As per Australia, he will “continue to participate in the match.” “Regardless of a positive quick antigen test.

Surprisingly, Australia Test captain Pat Cummins had mentioned covid prior to the match. “Now that I think about it, I’m not sure how we didn’t have Covid on our team,” Cummins said before Renshaw’s positive test.

“It feels like life is returning to normal. Even at Christmas, we were able to accommodate more families than in the past. Interstate trip, the Sydney lads staying at home – life is back to normal. Everyone is upbeat because their summers have returned to normalcy. It’s wonderful. “I think you’ve seen it with audiences as well; they’ve been wonderful this summer,” he continued.

Matt Renshaw is allowed to keep playing under ICC rules:

Matt Renshaw was selected for the team, slated to bat at number six, and Australia says he would “continue to take part in the match” despite the favourable outcome. During the Test’s opening session, the left-hander was observed sitting close to the team dugout on the outfield as he was isolated from the rest of the team.

Except for Matt Renshaw, who stood at the end of the line with a noticeable space between him and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood during the playing of the National Anthem, the entire Australian team stood arm in arm.

Matt Renshaw is allowed to continue playing under ICC regulations if he feels good enough. If he does not, and his positive test is confirmed by a PCR test, Peter Handscomb is the likely replacement for Renshaw.
