After that rain came as well and there has been a delayed start to the second innings. Coming to the match, Australia made a staggering comeback after being taken to runs by the Sri Lanka openers. They bundled them out for just 209 runs.
AUS vs SL: Adam Zampa stars with the ball as Australia bundle out Sri Lanka for 209 runs in Lucknow
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis added 125 runs for the opening partnership. They put Australia under immense pressure and it didn’t look that wickets would come easily with the way the two batters were batting.
However, after that, it was all about Australia as they made a mockery of Sri Lanka batters.
They picked wickets in clusters. Sri Lanka collapsed from 125/0 to 209 all out. Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers as he removed Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Chamika Karunaratne, and Maheesh Theekshana in his spell. The leg-spinner returned with the figures of 4/47.
Apart from him, skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc took two wickets each. Glenn Maxwell also chipped in as they bundled out the opposition for a low total. Australia were under real pressure coming into the game. They had lost both their games as they played poor cricket.
