The 28-year-old Australia National Cricket Team batter Marnus Labuschagne has become the joint second-fastest batter in the history of Test cricket to score 3000 runs. He is bettered only by legendary batter Sir Don Bradman in this Test feat.

Marnus Labuschagne recently dethroned England star Joe Root to become the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings. Labuschagne currently has 935 rating points and he is on the verge of entering the top 10 rankings for batters of all time.

In the first Test match of the series against West Indies at Perth Stadium in Perth, the 28-year-old scored 204 and 104* runs to help the Aussies win the match by 164 runs. He was also awarded Player of the Match for his sensational batting performance.

Meanwhile, Labuschagne reached the 3000 Test runs milestone on Day 2 of the second match of the two-match Test series against the West Indies National Cricket Team at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. He scored 163 runs off 305 balls, including 14 fours, in the first innings, before being cleaned up by Devon Thomas in the 111th over.

Marnus Labuschagne Registers 3000 Test Runs In 51 Innings

Marnus Labuschagne has taken just 51 innings to register 3000 Test runs and he has matched the record of West Indies’ Everton Weekes who also reached the milestone in 51 knocks.

The fastest player in history to score 3000 Test runs is none other than batting great Sir Don Bradman. He achieved the milestone only in 33 Test innings. Also, Labuschagne is the second-fastest batter to reach 3000 Test runs in terms of matches. He reached the milestone in 30 Tests, only behind Bradman’s 23.

Meanwhile, Labuschagne currently averages 61.42, which is the second-best average in the history of Test cricket among batters with at least 2000 runs. The record for the highest batting average in Test cricket is once again held by Bradman, who scored 6996 Test runs at an average of 99.94. Also, Labuschagne’s home average of 75.23 is bettered only by Bradman’s 98.22 among batters with 2000 home Test runs.
