Pat Cummins-led Australia has risen to the top of the ICC’s latest Test rankings after their 4-0 sweep in the recently concluded Ashes series against England.
India dropped down to third after losing their 3-match Test series against South Africa while New Zealand held on to second place following their 1-1 draw at home against Bangladesh.
The Aussies wiped the floor with their arch-rivals in what was a lop-sided series right from the first ball. They enjoyed convincing victories in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, before England showed some fight at Sydney and managed to salvage a draw.
However, they were back to their usual batting displays and collapsed in the fifth and final Test in Hobart which saw Australia move to the top of the points table with a 119 rating.
The Kiwis have 117 while the Indians dropped to third with 116 points. England remains in fourth place with 101 points while South Africa is in fifth place after their comeback victory over the favourites, India.
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe complete the order in the top-ten list. The Lankans also lead the WTC points table having won both their games against the Windies at home.
Pakistan drew 1-1 against West Indies before defeating Bangladesh 2-0 in their own den.
