Australia Playing 11 vs India– 1st ODI, 2023. Australia takes on India in a three-match ODI series heading into the ODI World Cup starting with the first ODI on Thursday, September 22. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST. The second ODI will be played on Sunday (September 24) and the third will be played on Wednesday (September 27).
Last-minute injuries to Mitchell Starc and Steve Smith have also ruled them out of the South Africa series. Smith was recovering from a tendon injury to his left wrist, while Starc was ruled out with groin soreness. All the senior players are now back in the squad with David Warner part of the ODI squad as well.
He played in the ODI series against South Africa. The Aussies are heading into this IND vs AUS series after losing the South Africa ODI series. They won the first two games but lost the final three games to lose the series.
Australia have announced a full-strength squad with Pat Cummins returning as the skipper. He missed the South Africa series with a wrist injury as Mitchell Marsh led in his absence. Cummins will lead Australia against India and also in the ODI World Cup.
Heading into this series, Australia lost an ODI series 3-2 to South Africa. They won the first two games but lost three on the trot to lose the series. In the previous ODI series played against India earlier this India, the Aussies won 2-1.

David Warner
Warner will open the batting against India. He recently played the ODI series against South Africa and scored 206 runs in five matches. The southpaw has scored over 1,000 runs against India in ODIs. He might come up against Ashwin early.

Mitchell Marsh
Marsh might open the innings with Warner in the absence of Travis Head. Head survived a hand injury in the fourth ODI against South Africa and might miss a few initial World Cup games as per reports.
Steve Smith
Smith is back in the ODI squad after missing the South Africa ODIs. He will bat at number three. Smith has scored 1145 runs against India with five hundreds and five fifties.
Marnus Labuschagne
Labuschagne after a successful South Africa series should get to play more ODI games. He scored 283 runs in the SA series at an average of 70.75, the most by any batter. With Head injured, Marnus is in with a chance to play the World Cup.
Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell will slot in at five. He was among the senior players rested for the South Africa series due to an ankle injury. He is part of the Australia World Cup squad and has reportedly postponed his surgery to play the World Cup.
Marcus Stoinis
Stoinis will slot in at six. He in recent times is being seen as a finisher by Australia. The Australian middle-order of Maxwell, Stoinis, and Green gives them enough all-round options.
Cameron Green
Green will slot in at seven. He has proved his worth as an all-rounder in the national team. He can open the batting and also bat in the middle-order. He can also bowl crucial overs.
Alex Carey (WK)
Carey will slot in at eight and is the designated wicket-keeper. Recently he scored 99 in the fourth ODI against South Africa chasing 417 to win. Overall, he scored 122 runs in five matches at an average of 24.40.
Pat Cummins (C)
Cummins will slot in at nine. He will return to lead the side in the ODI series followed by the World Cup. He has picked 214 ODI wickets so far.
Mitchell Starc
Starc also returns to the ODI side after recovering from a groin injury. He has picked up 219 wickets in 110 ODIs with 25 wickets against India. Starc is also a part of Australia’s World Cup squad.
Adam Zampa
Zampa will be the specialist spinner in the side. He took 8 wickets in the ODI series against South Africa. Against India, he has 31 wickets including Kohli’s wicket five times.
