Pakistan opening batter Abid Ali wants his team to make fewer mistakes and focus on improving their performance in the upcoming games. Abid Ali was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) in December 2023 after he complained of pain in his chest during a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match in Pakistan.
As a result, he had to undergo angioplasty just a day after experiencing pain. After four months of the unfortunate incident, he was cleared to continue his international career.
Abid Ali wants Pakistan to make 'less mistakes'
In a video shared by sports journalist Saj Sadiq on X (formerly Twitter), Abid Ali spoke about Pakistan's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Ali accepted that a team will be criticized whenever it doesn't perform but its character is tested on how it stages a comeback.
"Jab bhi koi team haarti hai chahe Pakistan ho ya koi dusri countries ho, criticize to hoga. Jab bhi hum performance nahi dete, tab criticize hona hi hona hai. Lekin ye depend karta hai ki aapne comeback kaise karna hai. Kitna strongly aap comeback karenge. Apni galtiyan jo hai usko theek kar sake kyuki hum insaan hai. Galtiyan bhi humne hi karni hai (Whenever a team loses, whether it's Pakistan or any other country, it is bound to be criticized. This has to happen whenever we don't perform. But it all depends on how you stage a comeback. It depends how strongly you make a comeback to rectify your mistakes because we are humans and we will make mistakes)," Abid Ali said.

We need to make less mistakes - Abid Ali
However, the 36-year-old opener also mentioned that a team should make fewer mistakes and try to learn from their earlier mistakes.
"Ye nahi hai ki karte hi jayein. Iss Tarah nahi hona chahiye. Zyada galtiyan hum karenge to phir hamari kaamyaabi ki taraf seedhi nahi chal sakti. Galtiyan hum zaroor karte hai lekin kam se kam galtiyan hum karein taki hamari performance behtar se behtar ho (It doesn't mean that we keep making mistakes. If we make more mistakes, then we won't be able to move towards success. We should make less mistakes so that our performance keeps getting better)," he added.
Abid Ali was a part of Pakistan's Test team as an opener ahead of his angioplasty. He has played 16 Tests for Pakistan and averages 49.16 in the format while also scoring more than 1000 runs.
Pakistan cricket team is going through a bad time in the past few months. Recently, the team bowed out of the group stage T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to the USA and India in their first two games. Since then, the team and the management have been severely criticized by the country's former cricketers and experts.
