BAN vs AFG: Litton Das Named Captain As Bangladesh Announce Squad For One-Off Test vs Afghanistan

Afghanistan are all set to play a one-off Test match against Bangladesh at Dhaka on 14th June.  Surprisingly BCB have named Litton Das as the skipper for the Test match. Litton Das will lead the side as the skipper Shakib al Hasan has been sidelined due to a finger injury.

Litton Das would become the 12th Test skipper of the Bangladesh cricket team. The selection panel could have given the reins to Tamim Iqbal or even to Mushfiqur Rahim as Bangladesh can’t take Afghanistan lightly.

Earlier in 2019, Afghanistan had outplayed Bangladesh in the Test match which was quite humiliating for the team. It is assumed that the surface would assist spinners as both teams have got quality spinners present in their ranks.

Afghanistan would cherish the opportunity of playing a Test match against Bangladesh as despite getting Test status in 2018, the side hasn’t played the red ball on a regular basis which is quite surprising.

I think Litton Das has got all credentials to lead the Test squad – BCB Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin

BCB selector Minhajul Abedin was having an interaction with Cricbuzz and was quite optimistic that Litton Das will do a good job and said that this is an opportunity for him to showcase his leading credentials. Minhajul was quite sure that the speedster Taskin Ahmed would be available for selection.

“I think he (Litton) has got all the credentials to lead the Test squad and it’s a big honor for him It’s an opportunity for us to see him as Test leader and we believe he will lead from the front,”

“Both of them (Shahadat and Musfik) have been with us from the Under-19 level and they were also part of the High Performance Unit so they were always in our radar. We are confident if they get a chance they will do well. I think he (Taskin) will get fit before the Test,”  he added.
