BCCI Official Confirms Virat Kohli Missing South Africa ODIs Has Nothing To Do With Rohit Sharma

Two of the best cricketers in the world Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be playing together for India in the upcoming South Africa tour.
Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the entire Test series due to a hamstring injury and Priyank Panchal has been named as his replacement in the team. However, according to the reports that injury is not a tear and the senior opening batsman will be fit and available in three weeks and will be leading the team in the ODI series.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has decided to take some time off to celebrate the first birthday of his daughter Vamika who was born on 11 January 2021 and he is planning a holiday with his family after the Test series, so he will not be available for the ODI series against South Africa.

As soon as reports regarding Kohli opting out of the ODI series against South Africa emerged, rumours started circulating on social media suggesting a possible rift between Rohit and Kohli.
However, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has told News 9 that Kohli wants to spend time with family and that’s why he has decided not to play the ODI series and nothing is wrong between Kohli and Rohit.
“Virat Kohli has informed us that he’ll not be available for the ODI series. He wants to spend time with his family – don’t read into social media rumours too much, there is nothing between Virat and Rohit,” BCCI official stated.
Sources also confirmed the development to Times Now stating that Kohli was set to play Test series and then opt out of the ODI series to spend time with family.
“Virat Kohli has decided to opt-out from the ODI series against South Africa. He has requested not to be part of the ODI series for personal reasons. He was supposed to be a part of Test series in South Africa from the beginning.”
The India tour of the South Africa series is set to begin from December 26 and it will consist of three Tests and three ODI matches. Also, the final Test will be played from January 11 to January 15 and the One Day Internationals series will commence from January 19.
