Three players from the India Test squad have been released to participate in the Irani Cup 2024-25, the BCCI announced on Monday (September 30) evening.

Team India is currently playing the second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The last match of the two-Test series will conclude on Tuesday (October 1). And ahead of the last day of the Test, Sarfaraz Khan Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal have been released from the Test squad.

All the three players failed to get a chance in India's playing eleven for both the Tests. Sarfaraz and Jurel had made their Test debuts earlier this year during the home series against England. Both the players had impressed in their debut series. However, with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant returning to the team, they were dropped from the playing eleven.

On the other hand, Dayal had earned his maiden Test call-up. After impressing in the domestic circuit, the left-arm pacer was included in India's squad for the two-match series against Bangladesh. However, with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj in the team, Dayal could only warm the bench during the series.

All the three players will now be looking to make an impact in the Irani Cup match. The game will be played between reigning Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai and Rest of India. Sarfaraz will be playing for Mumbai while Jurel and Dayal will be representing Rest of India.
