The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to get the majority of the share in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) net surplus earnings from the upcoming four-year commercial cycle from 2024 to 2027. According to ESPNCricinfo, the BCCI will get almost 40% of revenue, which is expected to be $230 million per year.
The ICC is expected to earn close to $600 million per year for the four-year cycle. The board sold both the digital and television rights for the cycle across five regions. The Indian market alone contributed $3 billion out of $3.2 billion, which was accumulated from selling the media rights. Disney will broadcast international cricket matches in India for four years.

According to the ESPNCricinfo report, the Big Three cricketing nations India, England, and Australia—are at the top. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the second-highest earner in the revenue distribution model, earning $41.33 million per year, or 6.89%. Cricket Australia (CA) is in third place with 6.25%, which is equivalent to $37.53 million.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is the only other nation to get more than US$30 million among the remaining nine full members, as the other full member nations would earn less than five percent. The PCB is expected to make over $34.51 million (5.75%). 12 full-time members would get combined $532.84 million (88.81 percent) and the remaining US$ 67.16 million (11.19%) to the associate nations.

An ICC team developed the proposed model, which was then reviewed by the governing body’s finance and commercial affairs (F&CA) committee before being considered by the ICC Board in March. Only a few model details were disclosed at the meeting.
The paper detailing the suggested strategy has been distributed to Full Members and board directors, and it will be debated and further considered at the organization’s next meeting in June.

Those criteria – “component weightings”, the model calls them – are:
- Cricket history
- Performance in both men’s and women’s ICC events over the last 16 years
- Contribution to the ICC’s commercial revenue
- And, an equal weightage for the status of being a Full Member
The BCCI will take home close to a billion dollars if they consistently report earnings of $600 million in the upcoming cycle. This is a huge boost from the previous cycle, which received 22.8% from 2016 to 2023.
