Sony Sports Network is facing backlash after releasing a promotional ad for the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, starting on September 9 in the UAE. The India vs Pakistan clash in the tournament is scheduled on September 14 in Dubai, UAE.

The reason behind the teaser, featuring India captain Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi, and former legend Virender Sehwag, is to hype the India vs Pakistan clash. But it has sparked anger on social media, with fans strongly demanding a boycott of the game.

Now, after the release of the promotional ad for the India vs Pakistan game, they warned of boycotting both the tournament and Sony Sports Network on social media.

As fans abuse the BCCI, ICC Chairman Jay Shah, and the Indian government, the tension around the India vs Pakistan encounter has only intensified. They also slammed the Sony Sports Network for agreeing to show the game on TV and digital platforms.

They have also targeted Virender Sehwag for promoting the match. Despite the uproar, Sehwag remains confident about India’s chances in the tournament.

Virender Sehwag predicts India’s success in the Asia Cup 2025

Virender Sehwag said in a video posted by the Sony Sports Network on social media, “We are world champions. We just won the World Cup and the T20 World Cup, and I am sure that we are the best team in the Asia Cup, and hopefully we will win the Asia Cup.”

The former Indian opener further added, “I think we have a very good side, and Sky is leading from the front, and he's a top player in the T20 format. I'm sure that under his captaincy, we will do well because we've seen in the past when Sky has taken over, we won a lot of T20 games, and I'm sure that we will win the Asia Cup also.”

Men in Blue to begin Asia Cup campaign against UAE

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have been drafted into Group A for the Asia Cup 2025, alongside the UAE, Pakistan, and Oman. The Indian team will kick off its campaign on September 10 against the UAE before facing their biggest rivals, Pakistan, on September 14, and wrap up the group stage with a clash against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.

This will be Suryakumar Yadav’s first major event as India’s full-time T20I captain, with high hopes riding on him as the team aims for its ninth Asia Cup title. His fitness will be vital, not only for leading the side but also for his performances in the tournament.
