Brian Bennett breaks Virat Kohli's T20 World Cup record

Brian Bennett, the youngest yet the best batter for Zimbabwe in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, has finished the tournament with the most remarkable record in the history of T20 World Cups. He has surpassed the former Indian legend Virat Kohli on the list.

Zimbabwe made the giants of the game awestruck with some of the latest geniuses from them. They beat the mighty Aussies in the competition and then earned a dominating victory over the Lankans on their home soil. They also challenged the Indians in a Super-8 clash. For the first time under Sikander Raza, they were through to the Super 8s.

The Zimbabwean opener also revamped the methodology of T20I cricket with his unique playing style. The batter did not hit his first six of the tournament until the game against India, and then hit a pile of 7 sixes to end the tournament.

Making a start against Oman with 48*, he scored two back-to-back half-centuries against Australia and Sri Lanka. After being dismissed early against the West Indies, he bounced back against India, where he narrowly missed out on a T20 World Cup hundred.

Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan Broke Virat Kohli's Run-Scoring Record Yesterday

Virat Kohli held the record for having scored the most runs in the previous editions of the ICC T20 World Cup. He had scored 319 runs back in the 2014 edition, which stood as a long-standing record for 12 years in the history of the competition.

Having batted in 6 games, Kohli's record still stood as a masterclass as he led his team to a World Cup final; however, Farhan, who also played six matches as well and amassed 383 runs, could not lead his team into the semi-finals of the competition.

The Pakistani batter also went on to be the first cricketer to have scored two centuries in the World Cup of the shortest format of the game.
