Cameron Green betrayed by Australia World Cup-winning captain as KKR exit demanded

Winning and losing are all part of cricket. How a team performs is what matters most. Apart from the match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the batters of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) did not show intent while chasing a total. The team has the firepower and depth in their batting, but the outcome is simply unacceptable.
Against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), KKR made some changes in their batting order, promoting Sunil Narine in the opening slot and pushing Cameron Green deep in the order. Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch said that promoting Narine in the opening slot was a positive move by the team, but they had taken multiple questionable decisions as well.
Aaron Finch raised questions against KKR
The bowling line-up of the Kolkata Knight Riders did well in the slog overs by restricting CSK to 192 runs. Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi, and Anukul Roy delivered some crucial overs.
The ongoing IPL season has witnessed multiple high-scoring matches. The target of 193 was chaseable at the Chepauk cricket ground. But KKR left the field again as the defeated troop.
"Certainly wasn't pretty. A lot of question marks about KKR, particularly in that run chase. Some of their tactics were very questionable. We praised the decision for Sunil Narine to go to the top of the order. It didn't come off today [24 in 17 balls], but it was something different. At least they tried it", Aaron Finch said on ESPNcricinfo's TimeOut show.
The partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi lacked aggression
After the dismissals of departures of the opener KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi created a 50-run plus partnership in the middle, but that did not help the team in the run chase. They claimed the runs and founded a much-needed partnership, but both of the batters lacked the aggression they needed to show.
"But some of the other decisions were a bit strange. And they were never in the hunt. We talked about Rahane and Raghuvanshi batting together, about how that can be such a stalling [factor]. And their partnership wasn't bad, but there's still no point of difference in that partnership. They don't take the bowling on. They don't get to a point where the opposition captain has to make some serious decisions about reshuffling their team," the former Aussie opener said.
Aaron Finch demands Cameron Green's axing
Cameron Green, who is a natural top-order batter, surprisingly went to bat as the number 6 of the line-up and returned quickly with a golden duck. Finch stated that Green is a designated top-order batter, pushing him down in the batting order would not work for the team. According to stats, Green has batted just nine times at that number out of the 68 times he has batted in T20s. The last time he performed as a number 6 batter was in 2024.
"When you've got as much experience in that dugout, you think that they'd be at least making the right calls at the right time. To Cameron Green batting at No. 6, that's an unusual position for him. I don't think he's done that a huge amount in T20 cricket," Aaron Finch opined.
"You've got Seifert sitting in the wings, he's a specialist opener. Cameron Green hasn't played a huge amount of T20 cricket [recently, because of injuries]. So you've got a guy there who brings a good skill set and really good form in Seifert, coming off a good [T20] World Cup. Who's got the scoops, he's got the ramps, he's got a lot of different options."
