Cameron Green to miss Bangladesh series: The Australia National Cricket Team have hit a new low after they lost the series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team 2-1. They won the third and final ODI by the barest of margins with one wicket to avoid a clean sweep against the Bangla Tigers. However, the Kangaroos’ next assignment is the T20I series, as it is set to begin on Wednesday.
But ahead of the T20I series, the Men in Yellow have been struck with a setback as their star all-rounder Cameron Green has withdrawn from the T20Is as he prepares for the Test series in August, as per Code Sports. There is a Test series lined up for the Aussies against the same opposition at home, which is scheduled to begin on 13th August.
Cameron Green's 2026 review
Cameron Green has not been in good form in recent times across formats. The all-rounder had a decent TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season with his new franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), after he was purchased for a whopping price of INR 25.20 crore. He could only score 322 runs with an average just over 30 and a strike rate of 145.70, and picked 7 wickets.
Green in this series just scored 104 runs in three innings with one unbeaten score of 52 runs. However, he has had a relatively struggling year in terms of the shorter format, where in seven matches he has scored just 117 runs with an average below 20 and the strike rate dropping down to 123, and picked just two in four innings with an average of 35.50 and an economy of nearly 10.
Nikhil Chaudhary to replace Cameron Green
Australia has not named a replacement for Cameron Green. It is expected that they will replace him with an all-rounder or a batter as well, as in subcontinent conditions with spin-friendly wickets in T20I games, the Aussies have struggled to get past and need someone who plays in the middle overs.
With Cameron Green pulling out, this would make way for Nikhil Chaudhary to make a debut as the Delhi-born all-rounder could become the first Indian-born man to play for Australia in more than 60 years after the Hobart Hurricanes cricketer was named in the T20I series against Bangladesh. He will provide some hard-hitting skills in the middle overs along with his leg-spin bowling.
Mitchell Marsh to be back in the squad
Australia's regular captain, Mitchell Marsh, will be back in the side after missing out on the ODI series due to an injury, and this will be a big boost for the side as the top order has crumbled for the past few series against Pakistan and Bangladesh, respectively.
Apart from that, Travis Head will be back, who was given rest after a tiring TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 22026 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Southpaw’s addition to the top order will also be a boost for the Kangaroos.
