The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Chetan Sharma has landed himself in major trouble. He got caught up in a sting operation carried out by the Zee News. The videos of the sting operation on the BCCI chief selector have gone viral on social media platforms.
During the sting operation, Chetan Sharma made a shocking revelation about pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The 57-year-old revealed that the right-arm quick hid his injury just to remain in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

The 29-year-old Jasprit Bumrah has been out of cricketing action for a long period. He last played international cricket for Team India in September 2022, before being ruled out with a back injury.
Bumrah missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury and then returned to the squad for the home series against Australia. He featured in two matches in the series against Australia and was set to play the subsequent T20I series against South Africa.

However, ahead of the series against the Proteas, Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out for an indefinite period. Also, the premier pacer was not part of India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

During the sting operation carried out by the Zee News, Chetan Sharma revealed that Bumrah hid his injury during the T20I series against Australia.
The BCCI chief selector revealed that Jasprit Bumrah joined India’s squad for Australia T20Is as a fit player. However, ahead of the second T20I, where Bumrah played his comeback game, the pacer’s pain aggravated.
Instead of informing the medical staff and the team management, Bumrah hid his it. Chetan Sharma claims that Bumrah hid his injury to keep himself in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Notably, Bumrah was forced to play the 3rd T20I against Australia as everyone thought he was fit.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was a late inclusion in the ODI squad for the home series against Sri Lanka in 2023. However, before the commencement of the series, the BCCI announced that the pacer has been ruled out. The BCCI stated that he “will need some more time to build bowling resilience”.
