Cheteshwar Pujara Set To Remain Off The Field On Day 02 Due To Hand Injury

Cheteshwar Pujara is reportedly nursing a finger injury and that has prevented him to take the field with his teammates during ongoing England’s first innings on the second morning.

The Indian No.3 did not the field on the second day and it has now been revealed that the ‘immovable force’ will not be taking the field for the entirety of the 2nd day.

Cheteshwar Pujara has copped a lot of blows on his body in the past few Tests and the right-hander endured more of the same courtesy Olly Stone on the first morning of the second Test.

Pujara looked in some pain during his stay at the crease and while the BCCI has confirmed that he felt some pain” the extent of injury has not been revealed.

“Cheteshwar Pujara was hit on his right hand while batting on Day 1 of the second Test against England. He felt some pain later. He will not be fielding today,” BCCI’s media team said in a press-release on Sunday.

Pujara was involved in a crucial 85-run-stand for the 2nd wicket with opener Rohit Sharma before he was eventually dismissed by Jack Leach.

Meanwhile, India, on the back of a stupendous hundred by Rohit Sharma and half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant, posted 329 in their first innings. In response, England has already lost four top-order wickets which also included the prized scalp of Joe Root.
