Cricket Australia Drop A Massive Hint On Australia's Next Test Captain

Cricket Australia (CA) has dropped a massive hint on the new captain of Australia men’s Test team after Tim Paine’s shock resignation following the sexting scandal as former captain Paine has been removed from the cover of the digital version of the officially licensed Ashes video game.

Just half a month before the marquee Ashes 2021-2022, Tim Paine stepped down from Australia’s Test captaincy after his involvement in a sexting scandal became public. Notably, back in 2017, he sent messages of a sexual nature to a female co-worker and was investigated by Cricket Australia and Cricket Tasmania.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia accepted the resignation of Tim Paine and are yet to announce his replacement.

“Tim felt it was in the best interests of his family and Australian cricket to take this decision to step down as captain,” CA chair Richard Freudenstein said.

“The Board has accepted Tim’s resignation and will now work through a process with the National Selection Panel of identifying and appointing a new captain.

“While the Board acknowledges an investigation cleared Tim of any breach of the code of conduct regarding this matter some years ago, we respect his decision.

Cricket Australia Hints At Pat Cummins Becoming Next Test Captain

Meanwhile, the marquee Ashes 2021-22 series is all set to begin from December 8 at the iconic Gabba, Brisbane and Cricket Australia will soon have to announce Paine’s replacement.

Also with Tim Paine’s resignation, there has been a delay in the release of the video game Cricket 22: The Official Game of The Ashes and it has been pushed back a week to December 2.

CA’s website confirmed Big Ant Studios had released the updated cover art in which Pat Cummins has been seen alongside Australian women’s captain, Meg Lanning. Hinting at Cummins taking over the captaincy responsibility.

Also, some reports have claimed that Pat Cummins who is currently the Test vice-captain is liked by everyone in the team and will become the next leader in red-ball cricket.

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins will feature on the digital cover art but the printed physical copies will still feature Paine.
