David Warner confirmed his participation in the remainder of PSL 2025. Warner flew to Dubai after an Indian missile was reported close to the cricket ground. Warner was not on the charter flight wth his Aussie teammates, including Sean Abbott, Riley Meredith and Ashton Turner.
David Warner's participation will boost the confidence of other overseas players to also take part in the remaining matches of the league. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) set a meeting with the franchises to discuss the dates and venues for the remainder of the tournament.
Which players can return to PSL?
There are not many Australian players participating in the PSL, but some renowned faces like Sean Abbott, Ashton Turner and Matt Short. None of these players confirmed their status regarding whether they will return to the league or not.
Ben McDermott is the only player except Warner who is planning to return to the remainder of the league.
With David Warner’s return, his ex-teammate Pat Cummins’ manager also Neil Maxwell stated that the Australian skipper is likely to return in the sub-continent for the last phase of the tournament.
Josh Hazlewood will not return to India as he is suffering from a shoulder injury and will enjoy a break before the WTC 2025 final.
BCCI announced the schedule for the remainder of the league. Six venues have been finalised for the last stage of the tournament. All matches will be conducted in central and southern India.
Many Australian players, staff and commentators didn’t leave India and are planning to take part in the full tournament and return to their home after finishing up the IPL 2025.
Alyssa Healy wants the Australian government to reassure all players of safety of all players
The Australian women’s skipper Alyssa Healy was watching the game of her husband Mitchell Starc in Dharmshala when the match was abandoned midway due the security concerns.
Now she wants full assurance of all Australian players safety from Australian government.
“There was a lot of anxiety around the Australian group because we didn’t have a whole heap of information as to what was going on,” Healy stated.
David Warner’s PSL 2025 stats
David Warner is the skipper of the Karachi Kings, and in his debut match, he scored only 12 runs off just six balls, but his team chased down a mammoth score of 235 against Multan Sultan.
Warner scored 164 runs in eight matches and has been leading his team to the playoffs since 2021. Karachi is currently in second position on the points table with 10 points in eight matches.
