DC vs CSK: "Who Doesn’t Love MS Dhoni?" - Sunil Gavaskar Reveals Why He Ran To Take Autograph Of CSK Skipper After Game Against KKR

Batting great Sunil Gavaskar opened up about why he ran to MS Dhoni to take his autograph during Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lap of honour to the crowd after their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He said that as soon as he knew the keeper batter is doing the gesture for the crowd, he grabbed the pen. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a heartbreaking loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as it would’ve made them the first team to qualify for the playoffs. But the visitors outclassed them and thumped them by 6 wickets to deny them a win in their last home game of the league stage.

However, the centre of attraction was skipper MS Dhoni. The keeper-batter in particular was disturbing things to fans, who kept chanting his name. But what caught the attention of many was when batting Sunil Gavaskar, who was doing the broadcasting duties, ran to him, and asked him for an autograph.

Sunil Gavaskar said that the way MS Dhoni has handled himself is fantastic and he’s a role model for many youngsters in India. Speaking to Star Sports, he said” 

“Who doesn’t love MS Dhoni? What he has done for Indian cricket over the years, it’s been amazing. For me, the most important thing is the kind of role model he has been. There are so many youngsters in India who look up to him. The way he has handled himself is absolutely fantastic.”

DC vs CSK: “I borrowed a pen as soon as I heard…” – Sunil Gavaskar on why he took the autograph of MS Dhoni 

Sunil Gavaskar further revealed that as soon as he heard CSK are doing a lap around the Chepauk Stadium, he borrowed a pen and took MS Dhoni’s autograph. He added: 

“I borrowed a pen as soon as I heard they are going to do this thing [taking a lap around the Chepauk]. So, I kept it with me. Thank you, so much.” 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be next seen in action when they will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next game on Saturday (20th May).
