Deepak Chahar’s father Lokendra Singh Chahar is of the opinion that his son will be groomed as an all-rounder under Rahul Dravid’s tutelage.
On November 3, Dravid was appointed as India’s head coach and replaced Ravi Shastri, whose tenure ended after the T20 World Cup in UAE.
Earlier this year, Dravid was also named the head coach of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour in July. India won the ODI series 2-1 but lost the T20Is 1-2 to a depleted Sri Lankan side.
During the second ODI, India were in a daunting task of chasing 278 after they were reduced to 160/6 after 27 overs.
Deepak Chahar was promoted to bat ahead of the then vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar and scored a valiant 69* to turn the game in India’s favour.

Rahul Dravid’s presence is likely to make a difference for Deepak Chahar: Lokendra Singh Chahar
Lokendra said that it was under Dravid that Deepak was given opportunity to bat in the India A tours and the result was evident in that Sri Lanka ODI.
“It was during India A tours under Dravid that Deepak (Chahar) was also made to bat, and he did not disappoint. Dravid knows his skill-set and has made use of it, like you all saw during the ODI against Sri Lanka at Colombo in July,” Lokendra Singh Chahar was quoted as saying by Times of India.
“Dravid’s presence is likely to make a difference. Deepak might be groomed as an all-rounder,” he added.
Rahul Dravid is always available to listen to the players: Deepak Chahar
Deepak is part of India’s T20I squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, which will also be Dravid’s first assignment with the Indian team.
Chahar said that Dravid’s work ethic is exemplary and his available to listen to players anytime.

“I have played under him in 4-5 tours. We all know his work ethic is exemplary and the best part about him is he is approachable. It is so easy to communicate with him as he is always available to listen to the players,” Chahar was quoted as saying by Times of India.
India will play the first T20I match against New Zealand on November 17 in Jaipur.
