Deodhar Trophy 2023: Venkatesh Iyer To Lead Central Zone, Rinku Singh Included

Venkatesh Iyer will lead Central Zone in the upcoming Deodhar Trophy 2023 season. His KKR teammate Rinku Singh is also a part of the 15-member squad.

The tournament makes a comeback after a gap of four years. It is the second major domestic List A tournament held in India after the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It is a 50-over tournament responsible for shaping up the future cricketers of the country.

The tournament will be played in the zonal format for the first time since the 2014-15 season. It has six zones namely, North Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, North East Zone, West Zone, and East Zone.

The central zone has accumulated a strong side, especially in the bowling department. The squads feature names like Yash Thakur, Shivam Mavi, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Madhwal all of who played in the recently concluded IPL season.

This is another big opportunity for Rinku Singh to stake a claim for his selection in India’s white-ball sides. He was recently snubbed from India’s T20I squad that was announced for the series against West Indies. For skipper Venkatesh Iyer, he too has a chance to come up with serious performances and stake a claim for a national recall.

The Deodhar Trophy 2023 is set to be held in Puducherry. The competition will be played from July 24 to August 4.
