Digvesh Rathi unveils unique celebration after dismissing Sai Sudharsan

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match no.19 was between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT). It is the first match of the double header as both teams came into the game after winning a thriller in their last games respectively. While chasing a target of 165 GT, opener Sai Sudharsan was dismissed by Digvesh Rathi, who brought a new celebration.

The LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi in the first ball of the penultimate over of the powerplay, as a half tracker from Rathi, which was miscued by the Southpaw, and it went straight to short fine leg to Avesh Khan. Digvesh Rathi, after picking up the wicket, brought his trademark celebration of signing a notebook, but in a different way.

Rathi this time brought out the celebration, doing it on the ground. GT are at a good stage with 64/1 after the end of seven overs. The Titans captain, Shubman Gill, is still there at the crease and has looked in good touch. This is not the first time the LSG spinner have brought this celebration previously.

In his debut season with the Super Giants, he was involved in mimicking writing down a batter's name in an imaginary notebook. This send-off gesture led to multiple BCCI fines totaling over INR 9 lakh, demerit points, and a one-match suspension.

Digvesh Rathi will be suspended for the celebration?

Previously, Digvesh Rathi received one demerit point for a similar celebration against the Punjab Kings, during which he made little contact with batter Priyansh Arya.

After dismissing Naman Dhir, he did something similar and was also fined 50% of his match fee. Now Rathi has been doing the celebration on the ground. Rathi has been an interesting bowler for the Super Giants as the mystery spinner bowled well in the last season, and this season, he has also been decent.

Prasidh Krishna was the star for GT

Coming to the match, LSG and GT went into this match unchanged from their last win, respectively. Rishabh Pant’s side were asked to bat first by Gill, and they did not have the best of starts, losing Mitchell Marsh early in the innings. Since then, the wickets kept falling, and they lost control in the middle overs.

For the home side, Aiden Markram was the highest scorer with 30 runs, and no other batters went past the 25-run mark. They could only score 164/8 with some runs from Mohammed Shami and George Linde.

Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4/28 in his four overs. Krishna is now the Purple Cap holder with the most wickets as of now in IPL 2026. He bowled brilliantly in the game.

GT had a decent start before the first wicket, and skipper Gill is still there at the crease playing a good knock, and Jos Buttler has arrived at the crease playing the aggressor role. After the end of 11 overs, GT are at a good position with 94/1.
