Afghanistan are heading into this ENG vs AFG match on the back of consecutive losses. They lost their first game against Bangladesh and their second game against India in Delhi. This is their second game on the trot in Delhi.
England, on the other hand, are heading into this game on the back of their emphatic win over Bangladesh by 137 runs. This came after they suffered a heavy defeat against New Zealand in their campaign opener.
Overall, Afghanistan have played two ODIs and three T20Is against England and are yet to win its first match against the opponents. The campaign only gets together for them as they will face England, New Zealand, and Pakistan in their next three games.

Afghanistan
Afghanistan failed to challenge India and were completely outplayed by an attacking Indian team. They have issues both with their batting and bowling. The team is too dependent on the likes of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rehman to get wickets and the pacers are inexperienced yet in international cricket.
The batters had a good outing in the match against India with them scoring 272 which was not enough on the day. Their boalers then failed to back up their batters and they lost the game by a huge margin. Against England whom they have never won against, it will be interesting to see Afghanistan’s preparation. They need a cumulative performance with bat and ball to help them get over the line.
Afghanistan Squad: Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hassan, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhil, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Abdul Rahman, Naveen ul Haq
England
England will be looking to play with the same intent against Afghanistan in the ENG vs AFG match. Their batters came back to form in the match against Bangladesh. They are sweating over the fitness of Ben Stokes who was included in the World Cup squad after he came back from his ODI retirement
The England all-rounder is sitting out with a hip niggle and was not fit to play the first two games. England captain Jos Buttler ahead of the Bangladesh game said that the management is not keen to risk him into games if he is not fit. It will be interesting to see if he eventually plays the next match.
England’s batting and bowling depth is one of the reasons why they are considered one of the favorites of the tournament. They have yet not play with their out-and-out attacking approach which we might see in the game against Afghanistan.
England Squad: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes
