ENG vs AUS: David Warner Keen To Pile More Misery On Bitter Rivals England

While reigning world champions England will be desperate to end their World Cup campaign on a high, Australia opener David Warner is in no mood to squander the opportunity to add more salt to their wounds.
One of the strongest contenders for the title, England are enduring one of their worst World Cup campaigns. At present, they are trying to avoid a last-place finish and seal a spot for the 2025 Champions Trophy. With just 1 win from 6 games, the Jos Buttler-led side are languishing at the bottom spot in the points table.
They began their campaign with a nine-wicket loss against New Zealand before bouncing with a 137-run win over Bangladesh. But the big win was not a precursor of the things to follow as it was followed by four defeats in a row including a first-ever defeat to Afghanistan in ODIs. In their last outing, they suffered a heavy 100-run defeat against hosts India while chasing a modest total of 229 runs.
David Warner eyeing more misery for England:
England could not have asked for a tougher opponent as they look to get back to winning ways. They will be locking horns against in-form bitter rivals Australia who are on a four-match winning streak. And their star opener David Warner cannot wait to pile more misery on the Ashes rivals. At the same time, the veteran opener is well aware of England’s position, saying they can be dangerous since they have got nothing to lose.
“It’d be nice to pile on England’s misery. But they’re the teams that are the most dangerous when there’s nothing to lose,” David Warner was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.
“They’ve got some very, very (high) quality players and we have to respect it. They bat to 11 and their bowling unit is very good,” he added.
One of the reasons behind Australia’s remarkable turnaround in the World Cup is David Warner’s form. In his last three innings, he has scored two centuries and one fifty. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the competition after making a poor start with the bat.
“Everyone keeps writing me off. I’m doing as well as I can, I’m just trying to go out there and start as well as I can up front in the first 10 (overs). If I get in, I try and make the most of it. It’s also awesome to have Heady and Mitch there as well, because it allows that pressure to keep being put back onto the opposition,” said Warner.
