Ravi Bishnoi, the 22-year leg spinner has made a name for himself in International Cricket. The spinner has been named in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 squad as a reserve which still is a big achievement. Bishnoi has played 10 T20I matches and took 16 wickets with an economy rate of 7.09 which is amazing in this modern era.
There is no doubt that Bishnoi is the future of the spin department as his googlies are hard to pick for the batters. Bishnoi should remember one thing the leg spinners tend to get whacked around the park; we have seen how Chahal too gets a beating.
Ravi Bishnoi Reveals Conversation with Yuzvendra Chahal
Ravi Bishnoi was seen interacting with news agency PTI and was asked about Chahal. “Yuzi bhai hasn’t told me anything specific (on leg break bowling). He always tells me that every moment that you are on the ground, you should enjoy and as a pair, we should try and bowl well in tandem which is beneficial for the team.” Bishnoi said.
“One has to perform a specific role that is being assigned. At times, it could be a wicket-taking role and at times, a restrictive one. For me, the most important aspect is that I have not wasted opportunities, whatever chances I have got, I have tried my best to utilize it.” he added.
Good Depth of Spinners
BCCI would be thrilled after seeing the performance of Ravi Bishnoi. Head Coach Rahul Dravid & Skipper Rohit Sharma have used him as a secret weapon cum trump card and until now he has proved to be lethal. The management should keep one thing in mind he should not be benched for a long period unless & until the situation demands.
The team has also seen the resurgence of Axar Patel who has been drafted in the main squad of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as a replacement for the injured Ravindra Jadeja. It would be interesting to see which combination does the management go for as the team already has Ashwin, Axar & Chahal and as we know playing two spinners in Australia won’t be a feasible option.
