The previous decade saw quite a few cricketing talents emerge and excel in the international arena across formats. And the new one is expected to be no different, with promising names hoping to climb up the ladder at the highest level for their countries.

As cricket lovers, we are in for a great time seeing these players take the next step in their journeys. It’ll be a memorable experience watching these players continue performing and create a legacy for themselves.

Five Players Who Can Rule This Decade In World Cricket:

5. KL Rahul

Talent and class have never been in doubt with Rahul. But with time and experience, the elegant right-hand batsman has also started performing more consistently under pressure for India.

Earlier in 2020, Rahul grabbed his chance as a wicketkeeper-batsman with both hands in ODIs and T20Is. He performed brilliantly in New Zealand and Australia. Rahul will expectedly continue this rich vein of form in the white-ball cricket. The 28-year-old will hope he can become the all-format force that many have envisioned with him.

4. Shubman Gill

Through the game’s history, Indian cricket has been blessed with some great batsmen who have conquered most challenges. Shubman Gill is another such stout talent in the Indian circuit.

Already been around the set-up for a while, the 21-year-old has the technique and the range to scale great heights across formats. Gill has the potential to dominate bowling attacks irrespective of the conditions. He’ll definitely enrich the sport with his batsmanship in the decade that follows.

3. Ben Stokes

England’s premier all-rounder Stokes will be approaching his peak years in the decade to come. The World Cup and the Ashes winner has been an integral member for the three lions across both Tests and white-ball formats.

With the experience of 67 Tests, 95 ODIs and 29 T20Is under his belt already, the 29-year-old will only improve from here on and remain a dangerous prospect for oppositions. Keeping in mind his enormous potential, it’s a matter of Stokes staying away from injuries and he’ll be seen destroying teams with both bat and ball.

2. Babar Azam

Pakistan might have been known more for producing raw but talented pacemen. But, Pakistan have found a horse for the long haul on the batting front as well in recent times. With each game, Babar has only gained in prominence within the Pakistan set-up. People compare him regularly with the world’s great batsmen, including India captain Virat Kohli.

Like Kohli, Babar has now taken over as captain across formats for his country. An honour bestowed upon him because of his excellence with the bat. Babar will expectedly enhance his game and take it to a level reached by few Pakistani batsmen.

1. Jasprit Bumrah

While India have had the batting riches, they’ve seldom had a pacer capable of ruling world cricket. When one sees Jasprit Bumrah bowl, he gives the impression he is that rare commodity.

Earlier on his career, Bumrah’s unique action and variations gave him an edge over most batsmen. With time, he has also enhanced his range and skillset. Especially since he has started playing Test matches for India.

From seaming the ball off a length to swinging it across both left and right-hand batsmen, the ever-improving Bumrah can do everything. If he can cope well with injuries which no fast bowler in the world has been able to keep at bay for long, Bumrah will continue bossing the game in the years to follow.
