Former Indian domestic cricketer Amol Mazumdar has come up with an interesting take to keep the balance between the bat and ball. The advent of T20 cricket has shifted the power primarily towards the batsmen, who have been shattering records at will with each passing year. Amol Mazumdar, who suggested revisiting the bat and boundary sizes, was mocked by Ravichandran Ashwin on Twitter.

The increasing number of T20 leagues in the world and flat pitches have indeed reduced the balance between bat and ball. The tournaments worldwide have witnessed the batters smashing even the best out of the park. While most bowlers have been less skilful, the tracks not offering them much has equally played a part. It has reached to the extent that batting sides have fancied themselves to chase even 220-240 successfully.

Amol Mazumdar took to his official Twitter handle and claimed that the biggest unevenness is caused by the bat and boundary sizes. Hence, he called for those to be corrected and expects others to follow. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin responded to the same by tweeting sarcastically that might be they need to extend the size of the TT boards firstly. The 34-year old also remarked that most of these grounds were built before the T20 era.

Below is Ravichandran Ashwin’s reply to Amol Mazumdar’s tweet:

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin is currently gearing up for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, beginning on the 18th of June. The Indian team will stay in England to participate in the five-match Test series against Joe Root’s men, starting in August. As for Amol Mazumdar, he is one of the applicants for the head coach of Mumbai’s domestic team.
