Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has lauded India's head coach Gautam Gambhir for backing his players. Basit even advised Pakistan to learn something from India after the Men in Blue's scintillating win over Bangladesh in the second T20I at Delhi.

India produced a magnificent performance in the capital city as they thrashed Bangladesh by 86 runs. There were a no. of positives for the hosts, who are looking to rebuild a team after the retirement of veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja.

However, the youngsters showed their talent as they stepped up when their team needed them the most. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh smashed brisk half-centuries with the bat and the bowlers produced a complete performance with the ball.

Ex-Pakistan cricketer hails Gautam Gambhir; calls Rinku Singh 'Michael Bevan'

While speaking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali hailed the thought process of Gautam Gambhir and lauded him for backing his players. He was referring to Rinku Singh, who was backed despite a tough few months for him with the bat.

But Rinku was still backed by Gautam Gambhir. Basit even compared Rinku's finishing abilities to the great Australian finisher Michael Bevan, who made a name for himself for being one of the best finishers the cricket world has ever produced.

"The kind of sixes that Nitish (Reddy) hit should be called 'Atthe' and not sixes. And then Rinku Singh is Michael Bevan after all. Gautam Gambhir's thinking has been a success. I am not saying that he will win the World Cup straight away. Even if he flops, Gautam Gambhir won't stop backing him because they pick players and make them and this is the best example of that," Basit claimed.

Rinku Singh smashed 53 off 29 balls in the match. His innings included 5 fours and 2 sixes. The left-hander came in to bat when India were in trouble at 41-3 inside the powerplay. But he remained calm and played with calculative risks.

He was comfortable against both the pacers and the spinners and maintained a terrific strike rate throughout his knock. Michael Bevan and Rinku Singh both bat at almost a similar position and both are left-hander as well.

Basit Ali advises Pakistan to learn from India

Basit further lauded the thought process of India and admitted that it is missing in Pakistan. He gave an example of how India rests its players to keep them afresh and advised Pakistan to learn something from their neighbors.

"The thought process is very important, which is missing in Pakistani cricket. India rested Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal but nobody rests in our team. So, please learn something from India," Basit said.

India thrash Bangladesh, take 2-0 lead

Both the batters played aggressively throughout the middle overs and hit sixes for fun. Nitish scored 74 off 34 balls while Rinku also scored a brisk half-century as India reached 221-9.

In reply, Bangladesh reached just 135-9 as their batters got out while trying for big hits. Mahmudullah was the top run-scorer with 41 while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets apiece.
