Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma exposed as Ravichandran Ashwin makes stunning 'leadership' revelations

Veteran India National Cricket Team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin talked about the leadership similarities between skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. He said that both are very same, but the intensity of the coach separates the duo.

After the Rahul Dravid era, it's time for skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir's era in Indian cricket. The former skipper of the team was recently appointed as the head coach after the T20 World Cup 2024 and he started his stint with the Sri Lanka tour.

Gambhir started his coaching stint on high as under him India National Cricket Team won the T20I series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team by the margin of 3-0.

However, immediately after that, he faced a setback as well under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, and the team lost the ODI series 2-0.

The Rohit Sharma-Gautam Gambhir partnership will be extremely crucial for the Indian team going ahead. The duo will have to face massive challenges ahead as there are quite a few Test series coming up. India are yet to book their berth in the final of the World Test Championship Final, which will be played in 2025.

The Men In Blue have 10 Tests upcoming, 5 of which are against the Australia National Cricket Team down under.

A lot would be dependent on Gambhir and Rohit as to how they will approach it and help the team succeed in some of the crucial assignments coming up.

On the other hand, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 too is there. The tournament will be played in Pakistan in February-March next year. With India winning the T20 World Cup 2024 under Rahul Dravid, the pressure will be on Gambhir to carry forward the legacy and take the team forward.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who will be vital for the team in the next 10 Test matches, was asked about the leadership similarities between Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma. Replying to this, he said that both possess sharp cricketing minds but have different approaches. Speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar, he explained:

"Gauti bhai is very intense. There are similarities between Rohit and Gauti bhai's leadership, but Rohit keeps it light. Gauti bhai is an intense person."

Ravichandran Ashwin added that although Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid have different personalities, they are passionate about Indian cricket. He also shared insights on how MS Dhoni was, saying that everyone has different methods. He added:

"He (Gambhir) is very passionate about Indian cricket, just like Rahul (Dravid) bhai. Both are very passionate about Indian cricket, but we believe both are different. Yes, they have different personalities.

"But people are like, 'MS Dhoni was cool, so everyone should be cool'. It isn't like that. Everyone has their methods, and we should encourage that,” he concluded.

Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin will be next seen in action when India will take on Bangladesh in the Test series, starting 19th September.
