Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh along with Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Kumar Mittal and Raghav Chadha has been nominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to become a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab.
Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who made his debut in 1998, played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is for India National Cricket Team. He was also part of India’s historic Cricket World Cup 2011 triumph, however, after the 2011 World Cup, he lost his place from the team and played a handful of matches since then.

He last played Test and ODI for India in 2015 and T20I in 2016. However, he was regularly playing Indian Premier League (IPL) and his last stint was with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021.
Meanwhile, on December 24, 2021, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from all forms of cricket and brought an end to a wonderful career.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 92 of Punjab’s 117 assembly seats in the recently concluded elections and 5 seats of Rajya Sabha will fall vacant on April 9 and names are required to be submitted today (Monday, March 21) for elections, which will be held on March 31. The strength of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is set to increase in the upper house from three to eight after the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old Harbhajan had met with former Indian cricketer and Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu before the elections, which led to the assumptions of his arrival in politics as a member of the Indian National Congress but Harbhajan had denied the speculations of him joining the Congress party.
