He Is Alright And Will Be Fine: Moeen Ali Gives Update On Liam Livingstone's Injury

England all-rounder Moeen Ali said that middle-order batter Liam Livingstone is alright and will be fine in a short period of time.

Livingstone injured himself after dropping Ishan Kishan at deep midwicket during a practice game against India on Monday in Dubai.

In the 16th over of Indian innings, Ishan Kishan pulled Chris Jordan towards the leg side.

Livingstone lost the ball in the dark lights and was seen in immediate pain, swelling was visible on his left hand’s little finger.

Moeen said that he was scared initially when the incident happened, but Livingstone told him he was fine.

“I think he’s alright. I think it’s just bruising on the back of the hand, but I think he’ll be fine. Obviously, it was a bit of a scare at the time, but he said it was fine, so hopefully, he’s all good,” Moeen was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

In the first innings, Livingstone hit 30 runs from 20 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.

With the absence of England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes in the showpiece event and skipper Eoin Morgan’s poor form with the bat, Livingstone has a huge amount of responsibility on his head to play in the middle-order.

Moeen said the T20 World Cup will be a big stage for the Cumberland-born player.

England lost the warm-up match by seven wickets as India openers Ishan Kishan (70*) and KL Rahul (51) set the tone for the chase of 189 runs.

England will play the next warm-up game against New Zealand on October 20 before they take on defending champions West Indies in their first game of the Super 12 stage.
