Bangladesh has created history by whitewashing Pakistan in Pakistan in the two-match Test series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, September 3. The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh cricket team won their maiden Test series in Pakistan, putting Pakistan cricket to shame.

The Tigers handed Pakistan a humiliating defeat of six wickets in the second and final Test to record a clean sweep against the hosts for the first time in their history. It is a historic moment for the entire Bangladesh, having come after the nationwide riots and political unrest in the country.

Bangladesh scripts history by crushing Pakistan in Pakistan in Test series

It seemed that the Bangladesh team came to Pakistan with the aim of showing the world what they were capable of doing, winning the first Test by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi and continuing their dominance in the second and final Test at the same time against the hopeless hosts.

In the crucial game, Bangladesh made the bold decision to bowl first after winning the toss and then restricted Pakistan to 274 runs in the first innings, thanks to a five-wicket haul from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed’s three-wicket haul at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In reply, the Tigers found themselves in a really tricky situation, but it was Litton Das (138) and Miraz (78) who showed great resilience and composure to bring the team back into the game by helping the tourists to post 262 runs on the board in their first inning.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad was the standout bowler with a 6-wicket haul against Bangladesh. Later, Pakistan repeated the same mistake, as no batter stepped up to help the hosts post a challenging total on the board, and saw them bowling out for just 172 runs with Salman Agha being the top scorer with 47*.

Bangladesh chases down target with ease, making mockery of Pakistan

This time, Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Raha took charge of Bangladesh’s bowling attack, sharing nine wickets together to help the tourists restrict Pakistan to 172 in Rawalpindi. Chasing 185 runs to win the Test series on Day 5, Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (40) and Shadman Islam (24) gave them a strong start against Pakistan.

Later, the skipper Shanto contributed crucial 38 runs in his team’s historic win over Pakistan. Mominul Haq (34), Mushfiqur Rahim (22*), and Shakib Al Hasan (21*) also played key roles in Bangladesh’s one of the most memorable chases in their Test history, with the tourists securing the historic win with six wickets in their hands.

However, the target wasn’t that big, but still, Pakistan’s bowling attack looked clueless without Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi. Nobody could put pressure on the Bangladeshi batter to avoid the morale-crushing yet humiliating loss in their own backyard.

After Pakistan’s first-ever Test series loss to Bangladesh, fans went berserk at the national team, showing no mercy in critiquing Shan Masood and his team for causing embarrassment to Pakistan cricket. Pakistani fans have been heavily slamming the team for their poor show, as it was an embarrassing whitewash on home soil for Pakistan.
