The much-anticipated three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is all set to kick off on May 28 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, the three-match T20I series will go ahead without the Decision Review System (DRS), just like the Pakistan Super League 2025.

The recently concluded Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 2025) didn’t have the DRS, and now the T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will also take place without the technology.

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, sources from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the technical crew responsible for operating the system is currently unavailable, and that’s why the T20I series will go ahead without the Decision Review System (DRS) in Pakistan.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh T20I series to go ahead without DRS

The report reads, “The absence of DRS for the upcoming three-match series has been attributed to the unavailability of the technical staff that typically operates the system. According to PCB sources, the team responsible for the technology has yet to return following the conclusion of the HBL PSL.”

The absence of DRS means the on-field umpire’s calls will be final in the upcoming T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. All three T20I matches are scheduled for May 28, May 30, and June 1 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium with the DRS.

Bangladesh has already been officially informed by the PCB regarding the unavailability of the DRS, and both teams are expected to adjust quickly. The PCB is also set to host a press conference on Tuesday, May 26, with both captains, along with the official trophy unveiling in Lahore.

Match officials announced for the PAK vs BAN T20I series

Meanwhile, the PCB has announced that Sri Lanka’s Ranjan Madugalle, a senior member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will head the match officials for the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Lahore.

Madugalle, who has officiated the most international games as a match referee, also worked during the recent PSL 2025. Pakistani umpires Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Rashid Riaz, and Faisal Khan Afridi will rotate duties as on-field, third, and fourth umpires across all three T20I matches.

Mustafizur Rahma ruled out of the Pakistan T20Is

Meanwhile, Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will miss the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after injuring his left thumb during the IPL 2025. He picked up the injury while playing for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings on May 24 while trying to take a return catch off Josh Inglis.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Mustafizur has a chip fracture and will need at least two to three weeks of rest before returning to action. Fast bowler Khaled Ahmed has been called up as a replacement for Mustafizur for the three-match T20I series in Lahore.

Bangladesh physio Delowar Hossain stated, “Mustafizur suffered a chip fracture on his left thumb while playing his last match of the Indian Premier League yesterday. This injury requires a period of rest and rehabilitation. As per our current assessment, he will be unavailable for selection for the next two to three weeks. We will conduct a follow-up evaluation after two weeks to monitor his recovery progress.”
