Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has said that he has learned a lot from everyone in the Indian team especially from the legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni.
Hardik Pandya has been out of action for quite some time now due to some fitness issues. He last played for India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Also, he has been appointed as the skipper of the new Ahmedabad franchise and he will be leading the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Speaking on the show Backstage with Boria, the Indian all-rounder said that he came to the Indian team as raw material and MS Dhoni has groomed him and wanted him to learn from his mistakes.
“I have learnt a lot from everyone and especially Mahi bhai because when I went there (Indian team), I was a raw material. The way he groomed me, the way he gave me a lot of freedom. He wanted me to learn from my own mistakes,” Pandya told Boria Majumdar on his show Backstage with Boria.
“When I came there, I was like ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni will look after everything.’ At that time, I thought why he’s not saying a lot of things. I thought he’ll tell me to bowl here or bowl there. Later, I realized he wanted me to learn on my own so, I can survive more,” added the all-rounder.
I genuinely thought it’s my first and last game – Hardik Pandya recalls his T20I debut
Recalling his T20I debut against Australia in Adelaide, Hardik Pandya said that he gave a lot of runs in his first over and thought he was playing the first and last match of his career. The 28-year-old added that Dhoni gave him the second over and then things changed.
“I remember giving 22 or 24 runs (19) in my first over on (T20I) debut and I genuinely thought it’s my first and last game. So, when he asked me to bowl the second over, I thought he’s referring to someone else. Then I went and obviously, things changed. So, what I learnt from him is that he never showed he’s there but he was always there.”
Notably, Hardik, who bagged 2 wickets in his T20I debut, was a part of the winning side as India won the game by 37 runs against Australia.
