Two India stars have achieved career-high ratings in the latest ICC Rankings for ODI batsmen, released by the ICC on Wednesday (September 6).

Both Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have moved up in the ICC Rankings for ODI batsmen, thus making ground on the No.1 ranked batter in the world Babar Azam. The Pakistan captain is currently at the top of the rankings and has maintained a good distance with number two Rassie van der Dussen.

While Babar has 882 rating points, van der Dussen is on 777 rating points. Shubman Gill is at number three with 750 rating points. The right-handed batsman has achieved his career-best position and rating points after the impressive unbeaten knock of 67 runs against Nepal in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

ICC Rankings:

Talking about Ishan Kishan, the southpaw began his campaign in a stunning fashion. He played a sublime knock of 82 runs off 81 balls against Pakistan and helped India recover from 66 for 4 to post 266. Thanks to the fighting knock, the wicketkeeper-batsman has achieved a new career-best mark of 624 rating points and a 12-place rise to 24th on the latest ICC Rankings.

As far as Babar Azam is concerned, he has played just one innings in the tournament so far and it was enough for him to show his class. Against Nepal, he played a stunning knock of 151 runs and would be eyeing a similar performance in the upcoming match against Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka batsman Charith Asalanka has also made a significant gain in the updated ICC Rankings for batsmen. He has jumped eight places to 29th after playing knocks of 62* and 36.

Among bowlers, Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has up four places to fifth overall on this list.
