ICC Rankings: Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock Make Big Gains After Impressing In World Cup

India captain Rohit Sharma and South Africa opener Quinton de Kock have made big gains in the latest ICC Rankings, released by the governing body on Wednesday (October 18).
Both Rohit and de Kock have started their campaigns in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in a stunning fashion. De Kock began by smashing two hundreds in the first two games. On the other hand, Rohit was out for a duck against Australia before playing knocks of 131 and 86 against Afghanistan and Pakistan respectively.
De Kock has jumped three spots to third in the ODI batting rankings, leapfrogging teammate Rassie van der Dussen in fourth. On the other hand, Rohit has moved up five places to sixth. Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who scored a fifty against India, is currently at the top of the standings and is followed by Shubman Gill.
Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz (up 19 spots to 18th) and Netherlands captain Scott Edwards (up 16 spots to 27th) have also moved up after scoring fifties against England and South Africa respectively.
ICC Rankings for ODI bowlers and allrounders:
In the ICC Rankings for ODI bowlers, New Zealand veteran Trent Boult has closed the gap with the top spot to just one rating point. He is currently behind Josh Hazlewood (660 rating points) after moving up one place in the latest ratings update.
Rashid Khan, who picked up three wickets against England, has moved up two spots higher to fourth place in the bowling rankings, while South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has climbed seven spots to equal fifth alongside Mujeeb Ur Rahman. India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has jumped seven spots while Kagiso Rabada has jumped one spot to take the 14th spot together.
Among allrounders, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is currently at the top of the standings in ICC Rankings with 343 rating points. Hardik Pandya at number nine is the highest-ranked Indian all-rounder in ODIs.
