Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar came up with a hilarious comment after seeing Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin having a conversation during a training session. Rohit Sharma-led Team India is currently in Pune for their next game in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The Men in Blue have made a solid start to their World Cup campaign. They have won their opening three games against Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. High-flying India will be looking to extend their winning start when they take on Bangladesh in their next outing. The match is scheduled to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

Team India arrived in Pune from Ahmedabad on Sunday (October 15), a day after the win over Pakistan. The players were given an off day on Monday while there was an option training session on Tuesday. And while it was expected that most of the players would skip the session, the India stars had other ideas.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s hilarious comment:

Captain Rohit Sharma, his predecessor Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja were all present at the training session. A clip of the session was shown by broadcasters Star Sports during the innings break of the match between the Netherlands and South Africa in Dharamsala.

The clip showed Rohit bowling to Jadeja before the former was seen having a conversation with Ashwin. And Sanjay Manjrekar interpreted the situation in a hilarious manner. He began positively by saying that Rohit might have been looking to offer his services as a bowler too.

“Now that is a picture! He said that in the press conference which he had even started talking about at the start of the tournament but now we aren’t because India are performing well, but it is always good to have a batsman who knows how to bowl.

“He has a lovely action. That is great with Rohit Sharma, the talent he possesses. And maybe India are looking for additional help with the bowling so that they can continue to have the same balance and have 3-4 overs of off-spin, especially against teams like Bangladesh who have at least 4-5 left-handers in their top 7,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

And when he saw Rohit talking to Ashwin, he hilariously said: “It looks like they don’t want to play Ashwin which is a big call because one of the seam bowlers will have to be dropped and they don’t like Hardik being the third bowler. And this is Ashwin giving tips to Rohit and helping him to keep Ashwin out of the game in a way.”

Ashwin was a part of India’s playing XI for the first game but failed to make the cut for the following two games against Afghanistan and Pakistan.
