ICC takes strong action against Mohammad Rizwan & Pakistan after 0-3 sweep in NZ ODIs

Pakistan have been fined for the third time in a row for the slow over rate in the ODIs. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side have been fined five percent of their match fee owing to a slow over-rate in the third ODI against New Zealand.
Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui hosted the third ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan. It was a terrible outing for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side as they suffered a disappointing 43-run loss to face the third straight defeat in the series.

Pakistan breached Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This is related to minimum over-rate offences and the players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Pakistan were one over short of the stipulated target, and following that, Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction. While on-field, umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel, along with third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Wayne Knights, leveled the charge.

The Mohammad Rizwan-led side had a horrendous outing in the three-match ODI series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. After losing the T20I series by the margin of 4-1, it was expected that they would come up with a better performance in the ODIs.
The visitors started the series with a massive 73-run loss in the first game and, after that, suffered another thumping defeat. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side lost the second match by 84 runs before facing another loss in the last match.
The Mohammad Rizwan-led side are having a poor time in white-ball cricket. They faced the group stage exit in ICC CHampions Trophy 2025.

After the loss, skipper Mohammad Rizwan was quick to admit that they need to improve, and they will take learnings from the tour. He also said that they will try to entertain their fans through PSL now.
"We need to improve, that's it. In New Zealand, it's very important to play well against the new ball. We'll learn from here and fix it. If you lose, you can't say like that (when asked if today was their best performance of the tour).
"Individually we are good. New Zealand won all the key moments. After the Champions Trophy and this series, we'll leave the past. PSL is a big tournament for us in Pakistan, hopefully our nation will enjoy. Hopefully we'll do well in PSL." He said.
