ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023 Team Of The Tournament Announced, 3 Indians Included

On Monday, January 30, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 team of the tournament and as many as 3 players from the India Women’s U-19 Team were included in the team.

After two weeks of action that consisted of 41 matches between the 16 national teams, the India Women’s U-19 Team demolished England Women’s U-19 Team by 7 wickets in the final to become the champions of the inaugural edition of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Star performers Shweta Sehrawat and Grace Scrivens were named as the openers with the latter even being named the captain of the team. India star Shweta Sehrawat finished as the leading run-getter in the tournament with 297 runs at an average of 99 and a strike rate of 139.43, including 3 half-centuries.

England captain Grace Scrivens led from the front and won the Player of the Tournament award for her sensational performance with both bat and ball. She finished as the second-highest run-getter with 293 runs at an average of 41.85, including three half-centuries. With the ball, she finished as the second-highest wicket-taker for England with 9 wickets.

The next three batters in the team were Shafali Verma, Georgia Plimmer and Dewmi Vihanga. India captain Shafali Verma was the third-highest run-getter in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 as she scored 172 runs at an exceptional strike rate of 193.25. With the ball, she bagged 4 wickets and she was quite economical.

New Zealand’s Georgia Plimmer was the leading run-scorer for her side with 155 runs at an average of 51.66. While, Sri Lanka’s Dewmi Vihanga showcased her all-round brilliance in the mega event, scoring 113 runs and picking up 9 wickets.

The next two players in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 team of the tournament were Shorna Akter and Karabo Meso. Bangladesh’s Shorna Akter scored 153 runs at a strike rate of 157.73, with her highest score of 50*.

Also, South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso did a great job behind the stumps and her eight dismissals was the highest among all the players in the tournament. She overall scored 80 runs in the competition.

The third Indian in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 team of the tournament was Parshavi Chopra, who finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the competition with 11 wickets in six games.

England’s Hannah Baker and Ellie Anderson were also included in the team. Hannah Baker bagged 10 wickets in the tournament to become the leading wicket-taker for her side and Ellie Anderson bagged 8 wickets in five games, including a 5-wicket haul.

Australia’s Maggie Clark, who finished as the leading wicket-taker in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, partners pacer Ellie Anderson in the team of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Anosha Nasir, who is from Pakistan, was named the 12th player in the team. She was the most valuable asset with the ball in the tournament, as the left-arm spinner bagged 10 wickets and finished as the joint third-highest wicket-taker.
