Former England captain Micheal Vaughan has been in the news quite a lot recently, expressing his thoughts on his countrymen’s performance in India. While Michael Vaughan has been critical about the pitches prepared in India, he acknowledged the Indian team as the best after they beat England comfortably. India defeated England by a 3-1 scoreline on Saturday.

India outclassed England within three days in the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 25 runs. Even though Joe Root’s men started the series promisingly by defeating India comprehensively in the opening match, they could not continue that form. India’s spin-bowlers dominated the tourists in the last three Tests to take the series.

According to Michael Vaughan, India are undoubtedly the best team in the world now as they have beaten Australia down under followed by England. He also acknowledged that Virat Kohli’s men would be firm favourites to win the T20 World Cup later this year in India.

“India, for me, are pound for pound the best team in the world. If you look at 2021, they won in Australia, they’ve beaten England 3-1… there’s a T20 World Cup in India and they will be the favourites to win that as well,” Vaughan said on radio for BBC 5 Live Sport.

They’ve got the pace, the skill, the spinners and they’ve obviously got Virat Kohli: Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan also remembered India’s return series in England later this year and does not doubt the tourists’ potential to conquer that uphill challenge of beating them in their backyard. The Ashes-winning captain thinks that India has got all the goods, including pace, skills, and spinners to beat England in England and if they do, they are the team of this era.

“They’ve also got the challenge to come to England in a few months time for 5 Test matches. If they beat England, who are tough to beat in home conditions with the ball moving around… if India come here and beat England, and I wouldn’t bet against them with that they’ve got on the talent. If they beat England in England then I think they are the team of this era. They’ve got enough. They’ve got the pace, the skill, the spinners and they’ve obviously got Virat Kohli. They are a tremendous team,” the 46-year old added.
