India head coach Rahul Dravid was in awe of young Rinku Singh’s batting prowess ahead of the first T20I against Afghanistan. He believes that Batter is excelling in the finishers’ role and the upcoming series will be an opportunity for him to develop further.

Ever since Rinku Singh made his debut for India, he has been sensational with the bat. Despite being very young in his international career, the batter has aced the finishing role and become the backbone of the middle order in the format.

Rinku Singh has been brilliant down the order and has hardly put a foot wrong.

The left-hander has batted exceptionally well in almost every game he has played. There’s a different type of aura when he walks to bat and the crowd is crazy about him.

Rinku Singh will be part of the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and is expected to play all three games. With the kind of display, he has shown, it won’t be a surprise if he boards the flight to USA and Caribbean for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rahul Dravid lauded Rinku Singh for the kind of display he has shown in T20Is. The Indian head coach highlighted that the left-hander has performed at every stage and he hopes that the batter continues his form. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“Rinku Singh made a fantastic start to international cricket, he is playing well. He is also excelling in the finishers’ role that has been assigned to him. The IND vs AFG T20 series is another opportunity for him to enhance his development even further.

“Wherever he gets the opportunity to play, be it here or in IPL, it will help in his development. Hopefully, he’ll perform even better in the coming days.”

With the kind of performance Rinku Singh has put in, it’s fair to say that he deserves a spot in the Indian team for the World Cup. But Rahul Dravid denied making any commitments on the same.

He mentioned that the selection for the World Cup will be decided later. But players who are performing consistently for the team will be rewarded. The Indian head coach stated:

“As far as selection in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup is concerned, that can be decided later. But when a player performs consistently, it makes an impact on the selectors for sure.”

All the eyes will be on Rinku Singh will step up in the field for the T20I series against Afghanistan. He would be hoping to make the most of the opportunity and make his case strong for the World Cup.
