Yashasvi Jaiswal And Shivam Dube Set To Receive Central Contracts From BCCI Post Successful 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to hand Central contracts to opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Shivam Dube for their impressive performances last year for India. The duo who are currently playing a home T20I series against Afghanistan, were a part of the team that won the Gold medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou last October.
While Shivam Dube had made his India debut in 2019, it has taken him quite a while to cement himself in the XI. He has still not fixed himself in the team but the way he has performed in the first 2 T20Is against Afghanistan, it’s just a matter of time till he becomes a regular starter.
He has scored back-to-back 60s first in Mohali and then in Indore. Dube was adjudged man of the match in the 1st T20I and the best thing about him was that he ensured his presence in the crease till the winning runs were scored.
Shivam Dube has scored 275 runs in 20 matches with a strike rate of almost 150. He is touted to be included in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in June but for that, he needs to have a good IPL as well.
Yashasvi Jaiswal on the other hand made his senior debut last July through the Test series in West Indies. On his debut, the 22-year-old smashed 171 runs at Windsor Park in Roseau and also scored a half-century in his 2nd Test appearance against the same opponents.
Although he did not have a series to remember in South Africa, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a major revelation in the shortest format. He is indeed very close to sealing his spot as an opener and it’s just a matter of a few more blistering innings till he cements himself.
Many believe that Jaiswal has already made one of the opening slots his own, shrugging off competition against ODI regular Shubman Gill. Both Jaiswal and Shivam Dube had impressive outings, scoring 68 and 63 in India’s 6-wicket win against Afghanistan to clinch the 3-match series.
“If He Can Bowl More Then He Will Be On The Plane For USA & West Indies”, Sources Indicate Shivam Dube Has Bright Chances For T20 World Cup
Our internal sources within BCCI confirmed that Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be rewarded with central contracts most likely before the T20 World Cup. While there is no doubt about Jaiswal’s inclusion in the T20 WC team, Dube needs to add a bit more contribution to the ball. The internal BCCI source claimed that he could become a valuable asset for India if he can bowl more and can be a crucial backup for Hardik Pandya.
“The selectors and the team management want him to bowl more and more, as that adds immense value to Dube as a player. This is why he is bowling a fair bit during this series. If he can chip in with a few overs with the ball, he can cement his place in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. This is crucial because he is the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya.” – the source said.
