Australian Cricket Team had a forgettable start to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 where they were outplayed in all the 3 departments of the game. The visitors weren’t picking the spinners which hurt them. The rising batter Marnus Labuschagne showed some encouraging signs when he scored 49 runs in 1st innings but later was foxed by Ravindra Jadeja.
Indian Cricket Team would be ecstatic with this performance as they have made the mighty Aussies go back to the drawing board. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja & Ravichandran Ashwin spurned a web as they took 15 wickets out of 20 and bowled quite a wicket to wicket.
Saba Karim on Australia
Saba Karim was seen interacting with India News and took a dig into Australia’s preparations for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“Australia didn’t prepare well enough for the tour. Even we used to keep on losing on our tours there. But then once Kohli became the captain, there was a vision in place that we will prepare a pace battery of 4-5 bowlers and groom them to pick wickets on those tracks and that helped us win on both the previous tours,” said Saba Karim
Saba Karim on Nathan Lyon & Todd Murphy
Saba Karim made a massive statement about Nathan Lyon & Todd Murphy.
“They had just begun preparations for the series 1-2 months before the tour. You just can’t do that. You had to start the process 1-2 years before and groom your spinners whom you would bring on this tour. Murphy hasn’t played a first-class game. Lyon doesn’t bowl at the ideal speed to be successful in India. You just can’t bring any spinner and hope for a miracle,” said Saba Karim.
Australian Cricket Team in 2017 had arranged a preparation camp in Dubai which helped them get used to the conditions. The Aussies had thrashed Indians in the 1st Test match at Pune and were looking threatening. Cricket Australia’ (CA) decision to make their star batters Smith & Warner play in Big Bash League (BBL) didn’t do any good to the team so far.
