Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was the star of India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023 final. Mohammed Siraj hunted 6 wickets in IND vs SL game to completely twist the match in India’s favour. After the match, Mohammed Siraj revealed his bowling plans against Sri Lanka.
With Mohammed Shami’s heroics with the bat, India bowled out Sri Lanka for just 50 runs in Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday, September 17. It was Sri Lanka’s second-lowest total ever in ODIs. Later, Indian openers Ishan Kishan (23*) and Shubman Gill (27*) scored unbeaten knocks to drive India to victory by 10 wickets.

“If I Bowled In The Right Areas”- Mohammed Siraj Reveals His Plan Against Sri Lanka
Post the match, Mohammed Siraj had a chat with fellow teammate Kuldeep Yadav. During the conversation, Siraj revealed his plan against Sri Lanka batters.
“I found swing early on and then I told myself that there was no need to hit the wicket hard. I thought that if I bowled in the right areas I would get swing and that was my plan,” Siraj said.
Talking about his brilliant spell in the match, Mohammed Siraj said it was magical and he never thought that he would bowl such a good spell.
“The spell was like magic. I had never thought I would bowl such a good spell. I had picked 4 wickets against Sri Lanka earlier in Trivandrum as well, but was not able to get my 5th despite bowling 6 overs,” Siraj said in the BCCI video.
Mohammed Siraj Reveals His Favourite Dismissal In Asia Cup 2023 Final
When Kuldeep Yadav asked Siraj which was his favourite dismissal in the match, the Indian pacer picked Dasun Shanaka’s wicket.
“I had been practising this ball from the West Indies series, to come from wide of the crease and bowl an outswinger. It worked out perfectly and that was my best wicket till date. It happened exactly the way I planned it out,” the right-arm pacer said.

Mohammed Siraj set the field on fire in the 4th over of the match by hunting down 4 wickets in the single over. He dismissed Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, and Dhananjaya de Silva in the 4th over to demolish Sri Lanka’s top order.
Later, Siraj went on to pick two more wickets- Dasun Shanaka and Kusal Mendis. In the end, he picked 6 wickets for 21 runs across his 7 overs. Siraj won the player of the match award for his impeccable spell at R. Premadasa Stadium.
